collection? Well, it’s clear the band had been shorn of its fusion roots, to become a more "pop" orientated act. There is a different version of "Make You Feel Love Again" - it is catchy and pleasant, but with no particular instrumental prowess. "Broken Heart" is very soulful - with possibly a Matt Greeling vocal. It features sax and snappy disco bass - all maybe more suited to a Randy Crawford track, but qual- ity just the same. "Plain Old Makin Love" sounds like a Randall Bramblett track straight out of the "Long Walk On A Short Pier" sessions. Strong vocals and guitar in a driving catchy track. "Tear Down This Wall" is a re-make of a

"Long Walk.." track. It has more of a disco pulse - like was featured a lot during the "On The Edge" album. Its again catchy well sung and played So, there’s a very strong opening of most

enjoyable tracks, but the next four veer further away from the Sea Level sound. "Shooby Doo" seems unfinished - with a somewhat "random" keyboard break. Its funky with a pop feel. "Dis- tance" is a big ballad, slow and melodic - with some nice guitar. "Why Don't You Spend The Night" has a light 60s feel "Hard to Believe an Old Lie" is a power ballad - with a big (but short) rock guitar break. These tracks are not necessar- ily "weak" but have no connection to Sea Level. It’s back to form for the Randall Bramblett

track "Same Road". A superb track with a Car- ribean feel, even a steel drum sounding keyboard solo! Its got that Randall feel with a great lyric.

The highlight, is what appears to be a Chuck Leavell composition, the final track : "Rhumba Man" - fun-filled and out of that "Shake A Leg" bag of New Orleans groove and fun! Slide / dobro and piano. Super fun and worthy of any Sea Level release! So, we have six super strong tracks with

two real standouts. No instrumentals, even with talent that gave us the four amazing soloists blowing us away on "Midnight Pass" just four years earlier. If you want to hear this album - you have

to do a bit of searching. Some fan sharing sites have it - I recommend you track it down, not just out of curiosity, but to enjoy the tunes, and see where the 80s took one of the best bands of the era. •
