Business News Doncaster gets connected online
The country may be in lockdown, but that hasn’t stopped Doncaster’s vibrant creative sector from doing what it does best. Doncaster Council’s Events Team, working in
collaboration with the creative and cultural sector, has launched a new website to give the creative sector an online platform to share digital content. The new Doncaster Connects website also provides
entertainment for the people of Doncaster until such time as the bans on social gatherings are lifted. Ever fancied learning to play that guitar that’s
gathering dust in the attic? Or learn how to knit? If children are taking music lessons they can keep up their practice with tutor-led sessions on the website too. Or maybe you fancy listening to some live music? If the answer is yes, then Doncaster Connects is for you. Cllr Nigel Ball, Cabinet Member for Public Health,
Leisure and Culture, said: “These are troubling and stressful times for everyone. Let’s work and come together to show what we can do as the people of Doncaster. Let’s help each other, inspire each other and let’s show we are connected in spirit and determination to get through this. “There are loads of live videos out there, and this is the place where local creators can showcase them.
“It is also a great reason for people to create their
own new content and with their help we can put them all together in one daily dose of all things creative by the collective creativity of Doncaster people. “The online channel is packed full of content
that will educate and entertain you while you’re at home. The content is varied and there’s something for everyone. Give it a try!”

Engineering firm says it’s time to change
CR Civil Engineering, a Loughborough-based company, recently celebrated its 20 years of trading and to mark the occasion, the company signed the Time-to- Change Employer Pledge. The Time to Change Employer
Pledge is a commitment to changing the way we all think and act about mental health in the workplace. This commitment is supported by a 12-month Employer Action Plan, built upon five years of evidence-based interventions researched by the Time to Change Employers Team. The Employer Pledge and
Employer Action Plan supports CR Civil Engineering to put in place best-practice interventions and policies to help our staff work in ways that promote a positive mental wellbeing.
12 CHAMBERconnect Spring 2020 Melanie Heath, Business Director
at CR Civil Engineering, said: “In honour of our 20th anniversary, we signed the Mind Time-to-Change Employer Pledge. Over the last few years we have included many initiatives to tackle mental health, such as introducing training courses and having a dedicated wellbeing team, to show our commitment to raising mental health awareness and working on banishing the stigma. “We wanted to invite more of
our workforce to celebrate our anniversary and signing the pledge, but in light of Coronavirus we decided to avoid unnecessary travelling. We are thoroughly excited for the next 20 years of trading as we continue to put our employees at the heart of our organisation.”
