The Rider is Celebrating 50 Years this Year! We were going to Cel-
ebrate the Rider in their 50 years but since the Covid 19 outbreak and Can Am is Cancelled we will just have to say CONGRATULA- TIONS!!! We wish Barry and
the Gang another Fifty Years of providing us with a Great Horse Paper to keep us all informed. Thanks for all your hard work! We encourage every-
one to subscribe to the Rider as that is one of the ways we communicate with our members. You can do so when you join CRHRA there is a spot on the appli- cation for you to join. Be very sure what you
are purchasing on the appli- cation especially when it concerns the Insurance sec- tion.
It can take many
months to remove anything if you change your mind.
the Rider:
Once we submit it to the BFL it is difficult to get the transaction Reversed. We are not insurance people, it is just a benefit opportunity we offer to our members. It is a complicated process to reverse a credit card transac- tion as well. This can take months as well. You do not have to re-
submit your Date of Birth if you are a renewing member. Please fill out an ap-
plication form even if you are renewing. It has to be processed for the insurance people and into our system for payment processing. Just sending a cheque is not sufficient. Also you need to sub-
mit an individual applica- tion form for all persons that are joining or renewing. Please fill in the payment section for each application submitted. If you are a new or re-
newing member and need proof of insurance before you receive your white tags, the order number which you receive after you submit your birth date can be printed off and shown to whomever needs
it.You are covered from the time you submit that. We do not offer family or group member- ships.
For new members
BFL does not issue paper policies when you join but does provide a contact per- son for you to call if you have questions or issues. On the back of your mem- bership tags is your policy number or you can use the order number. Have that ready when you call. 1-800- 668-5901 Stephanie Kirton. We urge you to call
BFL as they can answer your insurance questions as we are NOT Insurance Peo- ple we ONLY provide op- portunity for insurance as a benefit. A BFL representative
will be at our booth as well to answer your questions. Our OFFICE keeps
business hours so if you are

trying to get help with your membership it may be the next day or Monday before someone returns your call. We do not send out re-
minders that your member- ship has expired in order to keep costs down! Check your tags and you will know when you expire. Our mem- berships run from Jan 1 to Dec 31 each year. It does not matter when you apply it will expire Dec 31. Please consider donat-
ing to Small Animal Shel- ters along with Large Animal Rescue Centres. Consider adopting an x race horse, they can be retrained for your riding pleasure. The Bears will soon
be waking up and the Spring
Bear Hunt will be open. Bears are most dangerous in the spring, they are hungry and have young to protect. Take in the bird feeders and put all horse feed in sealed containers. Do not feed the cat or dog outside either. These types of things draw the wild animals in. Same goes for the household garbage. Covid 19 does not just
make us sick but is going to create havoc on our econ- omy. This will affect every- thing in our lives and our animals. As more and more people become self quaran- tined there will be less avail- ability of products and services. Panic buying is al- ready widespread!!!!
Since this virus
jumped from a cow to a per- son the news media is say- ing that it is possible to pass this on to our pets, dogs, cats, horses etc. No more kissing your pet and more vigilant hand washing and sanitizing of surfaces.
If
you have a public stable or are a show producer you need to make sure there are ample hand sanitizers and people going around and cleaning bathrooms, door handles, light fixtures, any- thing that is touched all the time by everyone. The suggested dis-
tance is one meter between each person and do not stand directly in front of the other person and no touch-
ing, such as hugs, hand shakes etc. If you already have
respiratory issues then you should consider not going where lots of people gather, shows, clinics, shopping, bars, restaurants etc. If you board your horse consider changing your time for a less busy time and bring lysol wipers with you. Wipe down your tack and stall door and latch, fence gates and latches before and after your use them. Check with your Vet
and Farrier to make sure they have not been exposed before they tend to your horse or other pets. The other troubling
news reports indicate that
this will reappear again in 3 to 6 months and a vaccine could take a year or more or even not at all. (Source of Info WW5)
