By Kathy M. Patterson AQHA Director

2020 AQHA Convention The American Quarter

Horse Association cancelled the 2020 AQHA Convention, due to coronavirus (COVID-19) con- cerns. The convention was origi- nally scheduled for March 13-16 at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The cancel- lation of the 2020 AQHA Con- vention follows the rise in confirmed cases of the coron- avirus in the United States and recent announcements of organi- zations and companies initiating travel bans worldwide. With the cancellation of the convention, registrants will automatically re- ceive a full refund for their reg- istration fees.

Member Experience profession- als assist members with their AQHA work via email, mail and by phone. New AQHA Guidelines and Rules for Drugs and Medica- tions

The American Quarter

Horse Association is proud to an- nounce a new resource for AQHA members. The 2020 AQHA Guidelines and Rules for Drugs and Medications is now available online to serve as an ed- ucational resource, in addition to AQHA’s official medications rules set forth in the violations section of the AQHA Official Handbook of Rules and Regula- tions.

This new resource includes

advice about understanding the AQHA Equine Drugs and Med- ications Rules and applying it in practical situations. The purpose is to help accommodate legiti- mate therapy in compliance with the requirements of the rules. It is important to note, these are only guidelines to serve as an educa- tional supplement. It is impor- tant

to consult a licensed

veterinarian in determining whether a particular substance is required for the welfare of a horse and when determining the dosage appropriate for such horse under AQHA’s rules. The AQHA drug testing program is designed to ensure that horses competing in AQHA competi- tions are doing so in a manner that will promote the safety and well-being of all horses compet- ing and the enforcement of fair and equitable rules and proce- dures.

New AQHA Service Centers The American Quarter

Horse Association is opening ad- ditional AQHA Service Centers this spring. The first AQHA Service

Center is set to open on March 9 at Heritage Place Inc. in Okla- homa City. To obtain assistance with AQHA paperwork, cus- tomers must schedule an appoint- ment with the AQHA Member Experience Team at each AQHA Service Center. Details on how to set-up an appointment, contact information, office hours and more

are available at

www.aqha.com/service-centers. “Expanding our services to

AQHA Service Centers provides our team the ability to improve the level of customer service we deliver to our members,” said Craig Huffhines, AQHA execu- tive vice president. “Additional locations expands accessibility to

our members who would prefer to work with someone from our Member Experience Team in person, but do not have the abil- ity to travel to Amarillo.” Addi- tional AQHA Service Center locations will be announced as locations are confirmed. “We look forward to con-

tinuing to expand our operations and providing a local presence to enhance our services for horse lovers around the world,” said Huffhines. AQHA Headquarters, lo-

cated in Amarillo, will continue to accept walk-in customers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central, Monday - Friday, with the exception of holiday hours. If you aren’t located close

to AQHA Headquarters in Amar- illo, or one of these new AQHA Service Center locations, visit www.aqha.com/member-ser- vices-on-location for details about the events where the AQHA Member Experience Team will be available to process AQHA paperwork.

Payment Options for Canadian Customers AQHA modifies accept-

able payment options for Cana- dian customers. Effective April 1, 2020, the

American Quarter Horse Associ- ation will no longer accept checks drawn on Canadian banks for payment of services from Canadian customers. This policy change aligns with international policies regarding acceptable forms of payment; AQHA does not accept checks from any inter- national country drawn on a for- eign bank account. To determine if AQHA can accept a check, routing numbers for Canadian banks contain eight digits, while U.S. bank routing numbers con- sist of nine digits. If an interna-
