Coronavirus Update from the QROOI/Ajax Downs
As you may or may not be aware, Ajax Downs has temporarily closed it’s off
track wagering facility in conjunction with the Casino. The length of the closure is unknown at this time. All of this is being done in light of the current global environ- ment with COVID -19. As for training days, Ajax Downs current opening training day is planned for
Wednesday April 8, 2020. It will be a breezing only training session. The next sched- uled day would be Wednesday April 15, breezing only once again and then we go to two days per week Mondays and Wednesdays commencing April 20, 2020 with start- ing gates available. This schedule is still planned to go ahead until further notice and is available on the Ajax Downs website and of course this all very fluid right now and could change at anytime. If anything changes to the current plan, we will send out another update. You can visit Ajax Downs website periodically for further information and up-
dates at
www.ajaxdowns.com. If you are travelling or are still out of country as I do know that some of our
seasonal staff work / Trainers down south in the off season, in the interest of pro- tecting others in our work environment please self isolate upon your return for a min- imum two week period before showing up to our facility as we approach the April 8th time frame. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns. Attached we have enclosed a couple of government links for your reference and information on the COVID-19 virus and precautions, etc.

Industry Notice: Changes to Registration of Racing Colours & Temporary Waiver of Fees The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
(AGCO) frequently reviews its horse racing policies and processes as part of its ongoing industry modernization ef- forts with a goal of supporting the sector in leading the de- velopment of its own processes, where appropriate. Through this process, it has been determined that
while the AGCO will maintain its regulatory oversight over the appropriate use of racing colours, the horse racing industry itself is best positioned to determine the correct approach to the registration of Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing colours in the future. As a result, beginning January 1, 2021, the AGCO
will no longer administer the registration of racing colours. In the interim, the AGCO will continue to register
racing colours from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 but will waive the annual registration fee during this pe- riod. Lifetime racing colours may be registered with the AGCO until March 1, 2020, after which time the AGCO will no longer accept applications for lifetime racing colours. During the interim period, the AGCO will work with
industry leaders on a long-term solution for racing colours, and will keep the industry informed of changes when they come into effect. Questions about this change may be directed to
AGCO Customer Service at 416-326-8700 or 1-800-522- 2876 (toll free in Ontario).
