Using Non-Filled Pattern Waxes for Production by Saffroshine Organics PVT. LTD. M

ost of the foundries in Asian countries are using non-filled pattern waxes for the mass production of small to medium investment castings. Non-filled

pattern waxes are preferred for their simplicity in dewaxing and recycling of the used wax. Using recycled pattern waxes for production is a common thing for the automobile, general engineering and commercial investment casting. Wax Pattern Injection: to achieve maximum dimensional

consistency, uniform surface quality and higher productivity below mentioned points should be followed regularly: 1. Before production, every batch of the non-filled pattern wax or the recycled/refurbished wax should be tested and controlled for different thermal and physical properties.

2. For wax pattern production, semi-automatic or fully automatic wax injection machine with consistent injection parameters must be used.

3. Wax should be injected in gel like condition at lowest possible temperature.

4. Automatic dies with proper die cooling must be used. 5. Suitable die cleaning and die release agent should be used.

6. Proper setters, gauges and wax pattern storage trays must be used.

7. Wax patterns should be stored at the controlled room temperatures.

8. Periodic dimensional testing of the wax pattern and test specimen should be done and recorded.

The assembly and shell building process for non-filled

pattern waxes and filled pattern waxes is the same. But to maintain the consistency room temperatures must be controlled at specified limits. Post dewaxing the used wax must be stored in clean and dust free location.

Recycling of the Used Non Filled Pattern Wax Before starting the recycling process, the used wax must be checked for the moisture and ash content. Proper records should be maintained. The used wax is transferred to oil heated tanks with

continuous stirring. Here the wax temperature is maintained and moisture content from the wax is removed. Generally, it takes 4 to 6 hours to remove the moisture from the wax. Because of the moisture content in the wax, it starts bubbling and rising from its normal level. Considering this, sufficient wax level should be maintained in the tank. Once the moisture is completely removed, the wax stopes
