3D-Printed Ceramic Tooling and Process Aids T
he PERFECT-3D division of Renaissance Services leverages additive manufacturing to create
tooling for rapid production of castings. Since 2013, PERFECT-3D has developed materials and processes necessary to successfully 3D-print ceramic tooling for the production of castings. The primary products from 3D Printing are ceramic cores, molds, and filters.
Company History Leveraging R&D support from the US Department of Defense, PERFECT-3D worked to develop many of the materials and processes necessary to successfully 3D-print ceramic components. With a very strategic approach to the development of additive manufacturing, Renaissance worked with the some of the preeminent organizations in the industry.
Renaissance partnered with PCC, one of the largest aerospace investment casting companies and with Pratt & Whitney to provide 3D-printed ceramic molds and cores for early development products. Renaissance supported BASF, one of the largest chemical companies, in development of materials for 3D printing of ceramics. Renaissance also conducted cooperative research with

Renaissance Services, PERFECT - 3D Division leverages ceramic additive manufacturing to rapidly and efficiently create ceramic cores, filters, and molds for investment casting foundries. The 3D printing of ceramics has the capability to reduce tooling costs and leadtime for complex precision castings by more than 70% as well as improving overall product quality.
