concerned, managers hate to do them, and employees hate to receive them. Tankfully, research shows that performance reviews don’t mater. Continual feedback instead of yearly reviews is a new trend in employee engagement. Actually, consistent reviews and coaching are a more relevant way of reviewing and correcting performance. Separating evaluations and compensation is important to coaching. And equating the two can make an employee feel that their value is tied up in their performance and pay, not the full qualities they bring to the team. Adjustments in pay can keep
the employee on course for more opportunities within the company and may keep them motivated and dedicated to staying with your company. But pay is not the only benefit. Having a total compensation statement can demonstrate to an employee the way the benefit package enhances their annual salary. Te statement should include salary, paid time off, insurance benefits, 401k match, or any other benefits you provide. Presented yearly, the employee has a beter understanding of where they stand regarding the company and how they are progressing.
