registration booth. In other words, there is a job for everyone! “It’s going to be a very fun day starting

with an opening ceremony and ending with a closing ceremony,” says Diane Herrick, founder of the new Stitch It Forward Society of Lethbridge. “We have games planned while the work is going on, snacks and coffee to keep people energized and a silent auction table with unique donations.” “Besides the fun aspect of this event,”

Herrick continues, “we will be serving our community by making items that are needed such as heart pillows, quilts, and so much more. All the activities can be followed on our Facebook page

throughout the day.” Organizers are also taking requests from

local organizations for items that can be made for them. Any organization can request we make them things including altering clothing for special needs, inventing a new item such has a holder for your blood scanner, or just about anything that can be imagined. “At least we will give it our best attempt

to meet their needs,” says Herrick. Organizations can email Diane at

stitchitforwarded@gmail.com or call 403- 892-8660 after 5 p.m. to discuss ideas. Soon, they will have it on their website for organizations to request items but for now requests will be through email or phone.

“Our goal for this 9-Hour Stitch-A-Thon

is to accomplish 90 projects,” says Herrick. “That’s 10 every hour. To reach our goal we will need 20 volunteers cutting, sewing, quilting, crocheting, and knitting every hour.” Businesses can also become sponsors

and encourage their staff to sign up as a group for a team-building activity. There will be a running total so our volunteers and our Facebook followers can cheer us on as we get closer to our goal. At the closing ceremonies, the items made will be handed out to the organizations receiving the items.
