COMMUNITY PHARMACY TEAM OF THE YEAR
BUCHANHAVEN PHARMACY, ABERDEENSHIREE When contractor, Sam Reid, purchased the pharmacy around fiſteen years ago, it
was a small business doing around 3,000 items per month. Te pharmacy now has an increased turnover and dispenses around 9,000 items on average each month. Te pharmacy team is highly experienced and very well-trained, delivering a very comprehensive pharmacy service to a great standard. Te team currently consists of three pharmacists, an ACT, two trainee technicians and everyone else qualified to level 2 (or in training). It also employs four pharmacy students and a pre-registration graduate. Te team also has an excellent working relationship with local dentists, chiropodists and optometrists too and oſten makes referrals to these services.
DAVIDSONS CHEMISTS, BRIDGE OF EARN During manager Andrew Watson’s time at Bridge of Earn, he has attempted to develop
a very simple idea: make the patient at the centre of everything that the team does. ‘We may not be the biggest chemist, but we certainly want to be the best’ is something he tells every staff member at the interview stage of their journey within Davidsons. Good customer service - along with focussing on improving patient care – is, Andrew believes, key to implementing this vision. Davidsons Chemist is predominantly family owned and this ethos echoes throughout the company. Te team continually surpass Andrew’s expectations with their determination, hard work and commitment to delivering excellent pharmaceutical care to the residents of Bridge of Earn.
WELL PHARMACY, BALLOCH As a company, Well had recognised that the existing Patient Medication Record (PMR)
system was not working for the pharmacy teams - or for the business itself. Balloch was chosen as the pilot for a huge PMR installation project. As a result, the working environment for the Balloch team has significantly improved and, as a result, the happier team have been able to greatly enhance the patient experience. Although not directly responsible for this business initiative, the involvement the pharmacy team has had in the project since its inception and the commitment and hard work it has demonstrated throughout has been exceptional. Te team has also exploited every opportunity to grow and develop their services even whilst in the midst of the changes.
