Two Day Seminar Report by Val Turner T
he annual two day seminar and AGM of the Show Jumping Officals
Club was held in Gloucestershire the first weekend in December.
This Club is now in it’s sixth year and was formed to encourage and assist all those interested in participating as an official in the sport of show jumping. It encompasses all the Associations affiliated to the British Equestrian Federation that run show jumping.
A very good attendance of
members, including judges, stewards, course designers, riders and show organisers were treated to a full weekend of entertaining and informative presentations by guest speakers from the UK, Ireland and Portugal. These included Course Design and Decoration, Stewarding, Communications , Horse transport, Veterinary matters and other related topics and discussions.
Hall Place Riders Of The
Year 2019 Presentations of Rider of the Year Awards 2019 took place at the Christmas Show. Accumulator points are awarded for 3 challenges to all those placed 1st to 6th at Hall Place Equestrian Centre, Reading, throughout the year.

Hall Place Dressage Rider of the Year 2019 – Goes to Jazz Diggens. Jazz has successfully competed at Hall Place with various horses accumulating points over the 12 Dressage shows here. Jazz owns and runs her own successful yard in Little London, near Tadley, bringing on and producing youngsters. She is a McTimoney Masters Qualified Equine & Canine Chiropractor. Jazz competes Dressage, Show Jumping and loves to hunt. The Chief Executive of British Showjumping, Iain Graham, gave a very interesting presentation, highlighting the development of the new National Training Centre. Michael Bainbridge, Lead of Officials at British Showjumping, spoke on the Associations new rules. He had an invaluable input over the weekend answering many Members’ questions .The Chief Executive of the Pony Club was also in attendance. An excellent atmosphere was maintained throughout the weekend with social activities that were enjoyed by all.

Hall Place Show Jumper of the Year and Junior Rider of the Year 2019 – Goes to Laurie Webb Laurie, age 12, is a talented quiet young rider who has formed a lovely winning partnership with the family horse Matty, also ridden by mum, Kate and younger sister Lyla. She trains with Kate Turner and Buckle Goddard competing in all disciplines. She is passionate about her riding and dearly loves Matty. At Hall Place Laurie continues to gain valuable equine skills, helping exercise and school some of the centre ponies and her hard work is much appreciated. Congratulations on this well deserved award!
