number of visits throughout the season, we think it is important that they are checked at the start of the season meaning any adjustments can be made before they start competing. Last night I began the rather complexed mission of event planning, this is obviously really satisfying and exciting once complete, between myself and each horses owner it is very exciting but like is say once complete! Trying to coordinate each horse’s events and goals for the first half of the season might sound easy but when you have a number of horses at the same level and many at different levels trying to avoid a clash, achieve qualifications and avoiding being balloted makes this a tricky process. As the rain is coming down outside we also need to take into account any abandonments, which would mean missing a run. This can be particularly frustrating for obvious reasons, but if the
horse is set to upgrade on the second event it means they are lacking a run so you have to contemplate rerouting to ensure the horse is fully prepared for the next level. The British weather has certainly played havoc in the past causing the cancellation of many events, making all the hard work of the event organisers, course builders, sponsors and competitors go to waste.
I am sure 2020 is going to be no different but this is just something we have to accept and hope that someone turns the tap off!
