British Dressage Quest Competition
at Fullers Hill Farm, Amersham, Buckinghamshire on Sunday 8th December 2019
n Sunday the 8th December Amersham Dresage held their first BD Quest competition of the season followed by their own Unaffiliated Combined Training. Entries were full and BD Judge Julia Catling enjoyed judging a wide variety of combinations throughout the day. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the complimentary mince pies were appreciated in the cold wind! Team Quest was won by "Life on the Edge" with the highest score of the day from one of their team - Amy Crofton and Hillside Darkie with 71.92%. Also of note was Ellie Marsden and Fleetmead Stockay, a highland pony who turns his hoof to anything, winning the U21 Prelim 18 on 68.84 %.
O
Our highest Unaffiliated Combined Training score went to Barry Webb with Oreo, who is a regular at Amersham Dressage and scored over 74%. Barry says Oreo "is a very sensitive but very willing little horse, which has meant my riding has had to improve a lot to make sure he understands what is being asked of him. He worries if he is unsure as he wants to please so much. I bought him as a show jumper but have focused on his flatwork to help develop the partnership. I am very pleased with the way his dressage scores have improved as he relaxes more in the ring, and this is paying off in our jumping as we are now starting to go clear. It just shows you what can be achieved with hard work and the right trainers!"
