Working together towards clean growth at Energy Summit 2019


Date: 5 December Time: 8:30am-1:30pm Venue: Nottingham Belfry


The East Midlands Energy Summit will explore how Government, business, academia and civil society can come together to ensure clean growth. The summit will provide an informative insight into the current landscape of the energy system and the roles business can play in enabling the transition to a low carbon economy. Held in partnership with the University of


Nottingham, the Energy Innovation and Collaboration team will join up with a range of energy expertise from the region. Delegates will gain an understanding on


what the future of energy generation, security, supply and storage means for them and how a future-proofed clean growth policy is a necessary step against climate change. In addition, the summit will also explore:


• Government plans to implement the Industrial Strategy’s ‘Grand Challenge’


• The practicalities of hitting the zero net carbon target by 2050 for the East Midlands business region


• How businesses can develop, implement and commercialise low carbon technologies and the innovative systems and services that are required to tackle climate change


• The new funding models and technologies available to support investment and development of new low carbon energy


• The competitive edge which can be driven by lower and sustainable energy usage


The agenda will cover a range of keynote


presentations, panel discussions and workshops. The morning is set to be packed full with essential information towards preparing businesses for the future energy landscape. Wayne Bexton, Head of Energy Services at


Nottingham City Council, will be giving an overview of the localised energy strategies and the latest insights into new technologies on the horizon. Delegates can see how their business measures up to these strategies, and the technology out there to aid the transition to low carbon practices.
