How to plan your best
Christmas event yet By Chamber patron Vine Hotels
The company Christmas party can often be a poisoned chalice to the person or department who has to arrange every detail, but with superb planning and organisation your Christmas event will be talked about throughout the next year. From finding a venue to pleasing the staff, the whole planning process can be a minefield. Here are some tips to ensure your Christmas party is a success:
CHOOSING A DATE AND VENUE Being organised is key. Be flexible on dates/times and set a budget to ensure everyone enjoys themselves. The majority of venues now offer celebration party nights on several
nights during November and December and, as they are attended by a diverse range of companies, the atmosphere is always lively. However, if budget is an issue you may want to hold your event post-
Christmas and several venues keep a small selection of dates available in January for this purpose. January is also a great time for companies which have to work throughout December.
TRANSPORTATION AND ACCOMMODATION When choosing a venue, make it accessible for all. If you have chosen a venue further away, think about arranging transport for staff, particularly if your event is during the week. Many hotels offer discounted rooms with breakfast as part of celebration packages so you can offer this option to staff.
MAJORITY RULES When it comes to Christmas parties, it’s really a case of ensuring the majority of the team are happy with the venue and the party. Of course, staff will generally want to have fun so speak with your venue about drinks packages. Why not add a celebratory touch such as a bespoke cocktail on arrival? The key thing to remember is this is a time to say thank you to staff so special touches will make the event memorable.
