ot sure about you, but 2019 has fair ratled by and as I write these notes at the end of September people are already talking about their plans for Christmas. It has been a special year for us, not least because our daughter turned 18 and we held a party in the garden which was filled with friends, family and laughter. She is now buckling down for her final year at school with an eye on one university in particular when the results come out next August. Fingers crossed.
As always, Mid Kent Living is awash with interesting articles. I was privileged to interview Sir David Steel, Chief Executive of Leeds Castle, for this edition. What an interesting and commited individual he is, with a very impressive pedigree in the Royal Navy on his CV. It is safe to say that he lives his job and relies on the hundreds of hard- working and equally dedicated staff and volunteers to do it effectively. Doug Kemspter laced up his hiking boots to stroll around the treasure that is in the Bedgebury National Pinetum while Dawn Kingsford has been geting to know Faversham for a great day out. And with Christmas coming shortly, we have 16 pages of festive ideas to help the season go with a swing.
For instance, Jade Schopman has shared her idea for a homemade giſt – a jar of chocolate fudge – and we taste test a selection of local beverages.
As ever, there is much, much more besides.
