offerings has made it possible for local entrepre- neurs to take it to the streets to provide southern Albertans, of all ages, with the opportunity to expe- rience the sights, sounds, smells and flavours of the fair.Today, food trucks are now part and parcel of fairs, carnivals and live events (big or small) every- where.


In southern Alberta, there are many independent


and franchised food trucks popping up at festivals, parks, community events and farmers’markets. In the area, there are many including Kona Ice. “It’s an experience when you come to our truck,” said Kona Ice of Lethbridge franchisee owner Dean Wenzel.Dean, and his wife Margaret, just started the Kona truck in May, as part of their semi-retirement plan. Wenzel explained the fully self-contained unit is

One just has to take a look at all the summer festivals includ- ing Whoop-Up Days,Taber Cornfest, parades and community celebrations - mobile food and bever- age units are popping up everywhere, and with great fanfare.
