TASTE CUMBRIA BACK FOR THE TENTH YEAR!

Continued from cover... The Festival takes place on Saturday, 28th September and Sunday, 29th September, with launch parties on the evening of Friday, 27th September. This year, there have been some changes to make it the biggest and best event yet.

The main festival always includes a big producers’ market on Main Street with 80 stalls selling everything from bread and cheese, to cakes and gin. The Taste Cumbria Demonstration Stage will also be based there, with some fabulous food and drink experts showing off their skills.

The pop-up restaurant will be hosted by chef Ben Wilkinson from The Cottage in the Wood at Whinlatter. It will take place in a tepee on the parkland of The Fitz.

New for 2019, will be a makers’ market, held in Market Place, to offer smaller artisan businesses a place to showcase their wares. Market Place will also host a family-friendly street party into Saturday evening, with food and drink businesses serving fresh pizza, authentic Italian and tasty British fare.

The Memorial Gardens will be home to the Northbound music stage from 5.00pm to 9.00pm on Friday, from 10.00am to 9.00pm on Saturday, and 10.00am to 4.00pm on Sunday. There will be a hot food court, Workington’s Tractor Shed Brewery will serve a host of local beers and ales with plenty of children’s activities and rides.

The Taste Cumbria Comedy Night takes place on Friday night at Club Derwent on Main Street and from 9.00pm on the Saturday, the Northbound team are putting live bands into the town’s pubs, so the party

can continue into the night.

Photograph shows Vince Wilkins from the award-winning Bedrock Gin, based at Thornthwaite, near Keswick.
