CHAMBER SOCIAL CHAMBER INSIDER
Name: Olivia Paterson Job Title: Business Administration Apprentice
My Background I am 19 years of age and was in full time education up until the age of 18 when I completed my A levels. As well as my school qualifications I have some experience of covering a business admin role when I worked for an Occupational Health Provider where I organised meetings, events, covered aspects of HR, filing and general office duties and have also worked in retail. I was born in Plymouth and have family in Cornwall, Scotland and
New Zealand who I visit as often as possible. I love travelling and going on holiday to various destinations and enjoy learning about different cultures. Ever since I was very young, I have always had a passion for
learning and I like to be busy, however I never really knew what job I wanted to go into after school. This became more of an issue when I left school and all of my friends were going to university and leaving Plymouth to start with their careers. Over the past year I’ve started my apprenticeship in Business
Administration and love it. I have always loved to help people and found that although the admin role is very general, you can learn so much about everybody’s different jobs and support individuals to achieve their objectives within their own roles.
My role at the Chamber I joined the Chamber in July 2019 in a newly-created position as Business Administration Apprentice. Although I have only been with the Chamber for a few months, I am enjoying the experience. The role is so diverse as it covers many different themes, such as
marketing, event planning, and membership all of which I love. So far, I have attended three events and have enjoyed networking,
learning about local businesses and how the Chamber supports these businesses whether large or small. I feel extremely privileged to be working as part of a very professional team and love the idea of promoting small and large businesses across Devon and Plymouth. l feel this is a unique opportunity and I am looking forward to being
an integral part of the team going forward and I am keen to learn as much as possible and grow within this role.
