Quiz-goers enjoy the fundraising event

Bishop Fleming gets its quiz on to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice

Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants have raised a significant amount for St Luke’s Hospice as several businesses from across the city joined them for their annual quiz. Over 130 city professionals from 28 local businesses attended the quiz

night held by the accountants on 8 June. The event which took place at The Duke of Cornwall Hotel raised over

£7,000. With more than 3,500 patients cared for by St Luke’s, the money raised will help the charity to provide specialist end of life care and support to people from across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall. The event which was dubbed to be ‘bigger and better’ than ever before,

was a real hit as quiz goers were able to enjoy a three-course meal as well as an electronical quiz. Solicitor firm, Nash and Co won the 2019 annual quiz, as it ran for the

fourth consecutive year. Bishop Fleming worked in conjunction with St Luke’s Hospice to organise the successful event. St Luke’s Hospice Corporate Fundraiser Nicola Keen said: “I cannot

believe we raised over £7,000, what an amazing achievement. Thank you to everyone who contributed on the night and for raising so much money for all our patients at St Luke's Hospice.” Bishop Fleming, which delivers audit, accounting and tax services to

businesses and individuals, hosted the event as it celebrates its centenary year. The firm, founded in 1919, has pledged to raise £100,000 this year to mark

its significant milestone. It’s been a busy year so far, with employees taking part in several challenges such as the Bath Half and the Three Peaks Challenge in order to reach their fundraising target. Bishop Fleming Plymouth Partner Robert Davey said:

“Our centenary year is not simply about a birthday or looking backwards, but rather an opportunity to position our business for the future. Our centenary and fundraising events are proof that strong relationships deliver remarkable results. “Our quiz was a huge success this year, raising

almost double than our previous years. It was great to have so many businesses from around the city together, in aid of St Luke’s. “We are a thriving business with a heritage that has been forged on delivering exceptional client service.”

38 Chamber Profile Autumn 2019 ‘The firm

has pledged to raise £100,000 this year’

Bishop Fleming Partner Robert Davey welcomes people to the quiz night Stuart Elford, Chief Executive at Devon and Plymouth Chamber, who

attended the evening said: “It was the best organised quiz I have ever been to. The food was great; the entertainment top notch and a great night was had by all. Most of all, to raise over £7,000 for St Luke’s was just brilliant. Well done all and thank you.”
