CHAMBER INVOLVE: ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Plymouth’s Marine Tech Expo returning in 2020

Plymouth’s Marine Tech Expo will return to the city from 30 June to 3 July 2020, as part of the Mayflower 400 programme of events. This four day expo offers a

platform to showcase, network and collaborate with the world class marine technology sector that exists in the South West. The event will also offer the opportunity for attendees to view in- and on-water live demonstrations, both at the expo and out in Plymouth Sound,

coordinated by the Future Autonomous at Sea Technologies (FAST) Cluster. Designed to bring together

industry leaders involved in the latest marine innovations in blue technology under one roof, the first Marine Tech Expo was held in 2016 and was a sell-out success, with another well-attended event held last year at the University of Plymouth. Councillor Tudor Evans, Leader

of Plymouth City Council, said: “We’re working to put Plymouth on the map as the UK’s centre for

marine businesses, with a wealth of ongoing developments including Oceansgate, the Marine Business Technology Centre, Smart Sound Plymouth and plans for the country’s first National Marine Park. “The third Marine Tech Expo will

build on this, bringing together the key decision makers and innovators within the industry for a unique networking and knowledge sharing opportunity.” 2020’s expo offers the opportunity for conference paper expression submissions, for the

latest in cutting edge research and technology on the topics of Autonomous Applications and Sustainable Marine to present at the event. Co-located and running in

parallel with the Marine Tech Expo will be the 64th Marine Measurement Forum on 30 June. An ice-breaker reception will be organised and hosted by The Hydrographic Society UK later that evening.
