Head to the races this Christmas

Exeter Racecourse

Love them or loathe them, Christmas parties are a fantastic way of rewarding yourself and your employees for a year of hard work. However, the prospect of this

annual celebration can fill some employers with dread and wielding the axe in favour of something else - a plastic cup filled with luke warm fizz while crowding around the office photocopier perhaps - could be a false economy, with staff left feeling demoralised. Christmas parties are good for

business, bonding, morale and loyalty, offering the perfect excuse to dress up, have a night out, show off your best dance moves, and hope you can remember everything the next day! The prospect of a

Christmas party at work shouldn’t be something to dread but should be embraced and approached with excitement - after all Christmas comes but once a year and when else can you really let your hair down? In offices all around the South

In their experience, they know

that large groups like to make sure they can be accommodated and forward planning by the venue ensures that they can book in confidence, knowing the theme and menu appeal to them. Conference and Events Manager

Michelle Thomas said: “I love Christmas and I feel very passionately that everyone heading to the racecourse for their Christmas party should be wowed as soon and they step into the room. “A red carpet, and a welcome

‘The prospect of a Christmas party at work shouldn’t be something to dread’

West, this crucial question of ‘What are we doing for Christmas this year?’ will probably have been dealt with many months ago – and a good job too because an office Christmas party is probably the most important work event of the year. Leave the decision too late, and all the best party venues will be booked up. The team at Exeter Racecourse

know this only too well and believe it or not they have already planned for Christmas 2020.

from our team with a glass of something fizzy awaits all guests. I’ve been to many Christmas parties where the only decorations are a sad Christmas tree in the corner of the room, and remembering my disappointment, I ensure that our party room is the total opposite.

Fairy lights across the ceiling, plasmas with falling snow

images and themed

centrepieces go a long way in generating the Christmas spirit. “Christmas 2020 - yes 2020 - at

the racecourse promises a night of glitz and glamour with a ‘Vegas Spectacular’ theme and we promise that there will not be a Brussel sprout in sight. In keeping with the American theming, the food is based around the ever increasing demand for burgers with a difference! “The main course is a handmade

bun, served with sea salted wedges and Christmas slaw. Vegetarians and vegans have not been forgotten with Christmas twists on the falafel and houmous burgers and halloumi and sweet chilli burgers. Dessert choices will include a Christmas cheesecake and a pannacotta. “The team at the racecourse

have scheduled in tasting sessions too, to ensure they come up with the best possible Christmas burger, so that the taste buds of partygoers light up as much as the Christmas tree!” This year’s food offering for the

Hollywood Christmas-themed party nights is also a twist on the traditional turkey dinner, with a Christmas pie – a combination of turkey, stuffing and cranberry in a rich jus - served in individual pie dishes with a pastry topping and served with crispy roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables (yes, including the sprout) but fear not - the traditional Christmas pudding will be on the menu.

Of course, it’s not all about

Christmas parties at the racecourse - it is also known for staging the occasional raceday as well as hundreds of conferences and meetings every month. At the racecourse, Christmas

celebrations, do not, as they say, ‘come but once a year’ and everyone who attends a Christmas party will each receive two tickets to enjoy a day out at a raceday of their choice (excluding New Year’s Day and the Haldon Gold Cup). What a great excuse for another team bonding day, or a day out with their families (children 17 and under go free). Hollywood Christmas Party 2019

dates are 7, 13 and 14 December with 2020 Christmas in Vegas dates scheduled in on 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 December.
