“Spence Willard have been great at sorting out the next purchase for us. We told them how much we loved the house when it was already under offer and asked them to keep us in mind if it went back on the market.”

make the most of its beautiful views, with upstairs living accommodation and downstairs bedrooms — a style typical of properties in New Zealand.

“Spence Willard have been great at sorting out the next purchase for us. We told them how much we loved the house when it was already under offer and asked them to keep us in mind if it went back on the market. After the sale with the previous buyers fell through, they got in touch,” said Kate.

The couple, who are now semi-retired, have worked in marketing and sales both here and in New Zealand. Kate has worked for some prestigious wines from Australia and New

Zealand, including Penfolds and Wolf Blass, while Oliver has been managing sales for big brands such as Apple, BP and Starbucks.

“The hours were always very long, so the move to the Isle of Wight was about spending less time working and more time as a family,” said Kate.

Between leaving New Zealand and heading to their new home on the Isle of Wight, the family backpacked for six months through Australia, Indonesia, The Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia and Qatar.

They now enjoy plenty of the Isle of Wight’s beautiful outdoors, including

walks along the Undercliff, ending at the Bonchurch Inn. Oliver also had a memorable four days, walking the whole of the Island’s coastline with Bro. At night, he pitched a tent where he stood, and continued on the next morning.

“I remember stopping for a beer at Niton Post Office & Joe’s Bar, which I loved. The atmosphere in there was fantastic.”

The couple plan to retire back in New Zealand in the future, but for now see the Isle of Wight as the perfect place for their daughter to grow up, and for the family to find a work/life balance that really works for them.
