KEEPING YOU IN TOUCH - YOUR FREE MONTHLY NEWSPAPER DELIVERED DOOR-TO-DOOR FOR 32 YEARS OUTDOOR LEARNING IN THE EARLY YEARS

In recent years there has been a cultural shift in our society that has reduced the access and use of outdoors for many young children. At Paddle School we place strong emphasis on the importance and value of daily outdoor experiences for children’s learning and development.

We have decided that we will visit the pond regularly over the term to see what changes take place. We could see some plants growing and lots of insects on the pond, but no frogs yet.

The children used different materials to create their houses for their chosen animals. The animals all looked very pleased with their new homes. What a great job Reception children have done!

All the children had a fabulous afternoon making willow sculptures in the garden.

We decided to have a go at bird spotting.

Jenny Watkins, Teacher Janice Durham, Early Years Leader

Paddle School Playgroup

Children were able to identify and collect the willow branches on our school field. We learnt that willow was bendy and flexible and fast growing.

These were meant to be for our garden but the children loved them so much they wanted to take them home.

Back in the garden we made different sculptures ranging from star wands, hearts, birds, spiderwebs, and lots more..!
