Every day,we areworking on projects that range fromchanging thewaywe growour food and feed our communities to expanding the places and experiences people can have through virtual reality
technology.These two research themes – agriculture, food and environment as well as business and technology – capture just a portion of thework our students and staff undertake in a variety of applied research projects at Lethbridge College.Our researchers also address themes of health andwellness; justice
t LethbridgeCollege,we talk a lot about how“what happens next mattersmost.” This big idea is true for our

portfolio ranked in theTop 50 research colleges inCanada, and,with an annual research budget of $1.6million, has provided valuable support to 64 industry partners in the last academic year. That same period sawthe launch of
our newentrepreneurship,mentoring and innovation program, called AgENT; received our first Social Sciences and Humanities ResearchCouncil institutional grant; expanded theCentre of Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurshipwith additional team members; started newNatural Sciences and Engineering ResearchCouncil- funded projects; and introduced our strategic research plan to the college community. engaged inmeaningful research spanning diverse topics, such as early childhood development, poverty and post-secondary students, transgender children, haskap berries, aquaponics, variable rate irrigation, virtual reality, public safety, and outdoor play and physical literacy.
We’re also creating newways of sharing
thiswork,whether at regional, national and international conferences or right here on our own campus at our inaugural research symposiums led by students and staff.Our infrastructure expansion includes a greenhouse, research lab, innovation incubator and office space in the newTrades,Technologies and Innovation Facility.We’re alsowelcoming newresearchers, including a newchair in Agricultural Engineeringwhowill arrive in August.
