The percentage of farmers ac- tively recording their costs has gone up, according to the AHDB’s annual Monitor Farm survey. Of 312 respondents to the sur- vey this year, 80% said they were recording their costs, compared with 78.6% in 2018. Although this is a small increase, the per- centage of farmers benchmark- ing their businesses against oth- ers has almost doubled, from 46.6% to 85%. “This is great news,” said Tim Isaac, AHDB head of ara- ble knowledge exchange. “One of the big focuses of the Monitor Farm programme has been on measuring and managing – en- suring that improvements can be accurately assessed.”
