IOWA AND NEBRASKA “NICE” SHINES BRIGHT
While many organizations across Iowa and Nebraska provided unbelievable support to those affected by flooding, countless individuals and small businesses stepped up to help as well – many in big ways. These unsung heroes offered their pastures to displaced cattle for grazing; collected prom dresses for girls impacted by the flooding; boarded horses in need of shelter; opened up their homes to provide food and hot showers to complete strangers; provided meals to first responders; spearheaded donation drives and much, much more. Here’s a sampling of Iowa and Nebraska “Nice” at its best.
Fencing Donations Help Replace Countless Miles Destroyed
Justin Osborne lives each day follow- ing a simple philosophy: to serve and help others in need. After seeing the flood damage firsthand during an aerial tour from the Spencer Dam down to Fremont and Plattsmouth, he knew something had to be done to help get the farmers and ranchers back on their feet.
“The devastation was so far reaching,” reflected Osborne. “From the giant icebergs and equipment, homes and barns underwater, to grain bins popped like balloons with corn in the floodwa- ters and thousands of miles of fence needing repaired or replaced, the de- structive impact of the flood was truly indescribable.”
