Take a journey into the past
Are you wondering why our lovely area is called the South Hams? What life was like here and what it looked like in the past? Come and find out at the Kingsbridge Cookworthy Muse- um and discover how local people have lived, worked and played over the centuries. The museum is open Mon-
daySaturday during the season, with eight galleries of local his-
tory and interest for all ages, and quizzes, drawing and dress- ingup for the children (and free entry for under16s). This year displays feature Wil-
liam Cookworthy and his por- celain, a remarkable local life, and 50 years of Kingsbridge Fair Week. Then there’s the 17thcen- tury panelled schoolroom, the Victorian Kitchen, the agricultur- al machinery collection... what-
ever your interest, there is plenty to see and do! And all this in our quirky Grade IIlisted building and peaceful walled garden. If you are researching family or
local history, the Resource Centre is open all year round with local newspapers, maps and archives and a photographic collection with more than 17,000 images. You are welcome to share our local history – visit us soon!
Join us for a day in the park
Situated in Kings- bridge Recreation Ground, with its won- derful outlook, Cafe Decks is the perfect place to enjoy the sur- roundings the park offers. Relax and take in the scenery while enjoying a delicious sweet treat, breakfast, brunch or lunch from the delightful open kitchen. The Breakfast Menu is served daily until 11.30am and Brunch Menu until 2pm, including trad- itional, takeaway, glu- tenfree, veggie and vegan options.
Kiddies Meals include lunch, drink, ice cream and a round of putting, so mum and dad can relax and enjoy.
Cream teas are
served in the after- noon. Scones are baked daily on site with savoury, fruit and plain scones hot from the oven. Choose from a
selection of
teas, freshlyground organic Fairtrade cof- fee and speciality hot drinks. Cafe Decks also
stocks deliciously creamy, whippystyle, Jersey Dairy ice cream, Salcombe Dairy ice cream/sorbets, pure fruit iced lollies, sun- daes, banana splits, doublethick milk- shakes and iced fruit smoothies.
The Recreation Ground is a great spot for resting ramblers, park activities or a family day out. Grab a picnic blanket from the café, pick up a bite or refreshment and watch the kids putting or playing on the new outdoor table tennis table.
Come and enjoy
treats galore at Cafe Decks overlooking the pond, wild flowers, estuary and sensory garden. There is Dis- abled access to the cafe, toilet and into and around the park.
There are so many vis- itors and locals with fond memories of the little train that used to run alongside the estuary, all of whom were delighted when it returned in 2017! Kingsbridge’s own miniature railway is in its third year of run- ning and has been a massive success, with more than 14,000 pas- sengers taken in two years.

We are excited to be opening our new delistyle shop in Kingsbridge selling all of Kevin’s (Samphire Foods) products, including a varie- ty of ready meals such as fresh cur- ries, fish pies, beef bourguignon, fish stew, duck confit and more, as well as accompaniments such as dauphinoise potatoes and sauces. Kevin will also be making fresh
pastas and sauces so you can mix and match your favourites, as well as an assortment of fresh salads, smoked meats and desserts. In season there will also be our
No Worries barbecue range. Apart from tasty beefburgers and bean- burgers, there will be a variety of freerange meats in different mar- inades fully cooked, long and slow, in the water bath, keeping in all the flavours, moisture and tenderness. All you have to add is some heat and barbecue smokiness to your taste.
And keep a look out for our
