Secret special places Lovely and special places by the river, moor and sea
Fish is centre stage at Floyd’s old inn
The Maltsters Arms is doing what
comes naturally to its owner Rob Daw- son: providing a warm and friendly destination with fabulous fresh food, outstanding wine and local beer. Once owned by the legendary chef and TV personality, the late Keith Floyd, the Maltsters nestles on the banks of Bow Creek, a tributary of the River Dart.
Floyd on Fish was Keith’s first TV show and was the start of his success- ful career in TV celebrity cheffing, so it seems fitting that fish is the star of the show here too. There is an array of fresh fish on offer
daily, from fresh oysters to monkfish curry, Thai fish cakes to fruits de mer. Most of the fish on the menu is local, coming from Brixham and Plymouth, where some of the best fish and seafood in the country is on offer. The location is second to none and the surrounding area off ers stunning walks. Not far by boat to Dartmouth, the pub has temporary moorings with water and electric hookups, plus showers for yachties who want to stay over night. With the water lapping against the quayside, the Maltsters is in an idyllic setting just five miles from Totnes.
Enjoy the best produce with fabulous views
Tuckenhay draws thousands of visitors every year and the pub is the village hub.
Great beer and wine served in a cosy
bar with a log fire in the winter, and outside riverside seating and bar for
those lazy summer days, eating lobster with a perfect bottle of Burgundy to accompany it. It is well worth navigating the lanes or sailing up Bow Creek to reach this very special place.
