TIME’S RUNNING OUT TO APPLY! The Canterbury Festival Foundation supports exceptionally talented young musicians in East Kent, helping them to pursue their musical training through its annual bursary of £2,000 – and becoming a music ambassador to children and young people in Kent. But time is running out to apply! If you’re a talented young musician or a classical vocalist living in Kent, aged 12- 18 (or under 25 with special educational needs) you only have until 3rd May to email your application to charlotte@ canterburyfestival.co.uk


Successful shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend auditions. From there, four Junior musicians (12–14 years) and six Senior musicians (15-18) will win the opportunity to perform in a special Canterbury Festival concert. The six Seniors will also be eligible to compete for the cash prize of £2,000 and become the Canterbury Festival’s Young Musician of the Year.


Philharmonia Orchestra: Live!


If you walked past Canterbury’s Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury in April, you will have seen the offer of a free digital experience of an orchestra. Philharmonia Orchestra: Live! is a family-friendly, short and informal live concert at The Marlowe during which an expert will guide the audience through music including the


main theme to Harry Potter, music from Star Wars, and excerpts from Holst’s The Planets. A fringe programme, including


theatre, poetry writing and live music, will be held around Canterbury. Recommended for ages five years plus and taking place on 5th May at 3pm. • Visit marlowetheatre.com
