Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside Turner Contemporary’s fi rst-ever photography exhibition, Seaside:
Photographed (25th May-8th September), examines the relationship between photographers, photography and the British seaside from the 1850s to the present day. The wide range of subjects includes the anarchy of the 1970 Isle of White Festival, the 1990 rave scene in Brighton, wild waves and holiday camps, and a raucous women’s day out in the 1950s.
In response to Seaside: Photographed, artists Bethan Peters and Stacie Lee Bennet-Worth will deliver workshops to families with Thanet Early Years Project, with the aim of creating a new artwork inspired by local residents. • Visit

GLASS ACT
Glass has fascinated people across the ages. With its capacity to hold colour and light, and ability to be shaped and fused with other materials, it can make stunning pieces. The colourful and
creative pop-up, Contemporary Glass Exhibition, of fused glass is curated by members of the Contemporary Glass Society and neatly coincides with South East Open Studios. Artists include
J.Clare Summons, Roger Stiles, Dawn Thomas, Gabrielle Argent, Jennifer Ann Brown and Hilary Ruxton – with international glass artist Peter Layton exhibiting pieces from his London Gallery.
• Contemporary Glass Exhibition is at Show Off Gallery, 13 Harbour Street, Whitstable CT5 1AQ, from 14th-21st June, 9am-5pm daily.
