Industry Feels The Heat Results Of The 2018 Wet Leisure Survey... ABOVE: More than 86 per cent of survey respondents expect to enjoy a 2019 falling somewhere between ‘OK’ and ‘Extremely Good’.
A shortage of staff skills was cited as a key issue for 2019 by trade members who anonymously took part in the recently published Wet Leisure Industry Survey.
When asked about what challenges they anticipate over the coming year, 20 per cent of comments from participants related to difficulties in finding staff with the right qualifications and knowledge.
The struggle to find personnel with the appropriate training could in part be due to the poor availability of apprenticeships and courses, which has contributed to a lack of skill development within the wet leisure sector.
“Questions are also being raised around the level of training and skills in the industry,” commented Jamie Adams, Managing Director
of Golden Coast, the Survey organisers. “There’s a feeling that good staff are becoming increasingly hard to find. So, as an industry, should we be committing resources to this?”
According to findings from the Wet Leisure Industry Survey, released earlier this year, the industry is planning on another strong year despite political and economic uncertainty.
Despite a poor economical feeling created by uncertainty, the weather has been exceptional and more than compensated. Wet Leisure Survey, 2018
