FARMHOUSE reimagined

Steve and Traci Burges blend authentic details with modern touches for unmistakable style

fter more than 30 years of building and reselling homes, Steve and Traci Burges have created their forever home. h The couple put their knowledge of building and design to good use, blending turn-of-the-century Crafts- man-style details with modern amenities, to create a spacious gather- ing place for family and friends. h “Our goal was for this to look like an old farmhouse,” Traci says. “I love that old, authentic farmhouse look.” h She has always been drawn to old farmhouses, but Steve, an executive broker at Gilbert Realty, would remind her actual farmhouses have drafts and poor plumbing. h They completed their 3,000-square- foot, farmhouse-style home nearly four years ago with builder Alan Pinkston, reworking a Southern Living Cottage of the Year floorplan so it functioned well on the lot. The home is on 8 acres that had been part of Traci’s family’s farmland in Mountain Home.
