Wes Dorethy, right, with his Patient Eyes bandmates: Michael Lee, from left, Wyatt Conner and Jacob Sunnerville.
Wes Dorethy sits on a couch in his new apartment with his buddy, Mr. President, purring con- tently next to his shoulder. The 1-year-old, tiger-striped gray cat is just one of the new things happening in Dorethy’s young life. Along with Mr. President and the new apartment (it’s the first time he has lived away from his family’s home), Dorethy also has made his first attempt at writing a love song. h Not that big of a deal for most songwriters, but when you consider Do- rethy has written more than 100 songs over the past several years – a melancholy, yet intrinsical- ly sublime and sensitive collection of tunes mostly about relationships, religion and loss – it’s actually kind of a milestone for the 23-year-old Arkansas native living in Mountain Home.
