have to have tons of money or do it your- self,” Steve says, adding it’s not so much having skill as not being afraid to try. Even though the home has an early 1900s


farmhouse feel, they didn’t skimp on mod- ern features. The home has a central vacuum, hidden in inconspicuous places


within the toe kicks of each room. After sweeping, one simply kicks the switch, which vacuums up the accumulated dust and dirt. Halfway through building their home,


they visited the Biltmore House in Ashe- ville, N.C. Built in the late 1800s, it im- pressed upon them to make a home that would last forever.
