dressage/jumping. They also hold 5 auctions a year, which have some really lovely horses. The whole auction process is so transparent and I have to admit my only experience had been of the ones that are held over here. It was a real eye opening experience when we went to the October Elite Auction. Everyone is dressed in their best, the atmosphere is great and the quality of horsepower is second to none allowing the client a greater range of choice you can definitely snap up a bargain. We plan on attending each of these auctions with clients so please do get in touch if it is something you would be interested in.

Favourite item of horsey gear you can’t do without?

I would have to say that my favourite item of horsey gear has to be my Freedom bridles from Stübben. From the moment I rode in it for the first time, the difference was huge. Stübben has really taken the time to create a bridle that really does think about the horse. The cheek pieces are set back to allow full sight and along with the special headpiece have been designed to prevent pressure. The brow band is pretty cool, its magnetic and you can change it to what ever design of colours you like just by peeling it off!

Favourite venue to compete My favourite venue has to probably be

Addington. I recently competed there and the new management have invested so much into it. The new surfaces are fantastic, the atmosphere is friendly and the food in the café is top notch!

What advice do you have for anyone thinking of starting out in dressage? Base yourself with a rider for a period of time. It will be long hours and hard work but the hands on experience and contacts that you will learn/make will be invaluable for the rest of your career. I would also say try and ride a lot of different types of horses. We don’t all have stables full of Valegros so you have to learn to train what you have. That has to be the most enjoyable part of the job. There will be highs and lots of lows but you’re never alone in that. Tomorrow is always another day!

What are your goals for this year? My goals this year are to continue taking Nasa out successfully at Small Tour. I would love to get him qualified for an International but we will have to see how he takes to the work. Sanssouci will make her debut at Advanced Medium and I plan to get Summer Dream out to some smaller competitions. I am really lucky to teach some lovely clients all who have great successes of their own so I hope that this continues for them over the next 12

Tell us about your unaffiliated dressage series.

So this will be the 6th year that we have been running our Unaffiliated dressage series and I reckon its going to be bigger and better then ever. We run classes from Walk Trot through to Elementary along with our successful Dressage to Music classes from Prelim to Elementary. The most exciting thing has to be the league, which we run across the 5 shows. Competitors are awarded points dependant on their percentages, these are then logged in a table and in September the Champion is announced winning over £1000 worth of prizes from lessons, photo shoots, magnetic pads, grooming products and vouchers. We have been so lucky to have had such huge support from Equine Essentials Direct, Stuart Equine, Hannah Freeland Photography, Equilibrium Products, Chiltern Vet Physio and The Simple Equine.

The dates for the 6th year of the Summer Series of Unaffiliated Dressage 2019 are: 19th May, 2nd June, 21st July, 4th August, 8th September
