Special Achievement by an HFC Award Eighty-Seventh/Odessa Housing Partnership LP


The idea for this project began 2 years ago on December 1, 2016 to provide affordable housing for low to moder-


ate income families in Odessa. Our vision was to build a community that everyone could afford to live in consisting of an apartment complex, retail center, and single-family homes.


The first phase of this project was the apartment complex which we named Eighty-Seventh. It is a 181-unit complex with beautiful one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans, as well as handicap accessible units to accommodate any household. The rent rates for this complex are very afford- able, not to mention we have partnered with the Housing Authority to provide 114 Project Based Vouchers to assist


families with their rent if necessary. This complex is not only affordable, but also has all the amenities of a luxury apartment complex and more. For example, an education room with computers and desks where children in the complex can do their homework. It also has a kitchen that we will be using to provide after school snacks to the children. A clubhouse, TV room, fit- ness room, swimming pool, laundry facility, and playground that anyone in the complex is welcome to use. In addition to these amenities, we plan to provide a variety of services for the community and partnering with organizations throughout Odessa who will help our families succeed.


The apartment complex was filled to 100% prior to completion, with 281 families still on the waiting list. Our complex already has a 2-year waiting list since it is considered one of the desired places to live in Odessa. With rent increases in the area, our property is one of the most affordable. We are so proud of all of the work everyone has put into this development to make it happen. We look forward to providing more families with affordable housing.
