NALHFA Holds Legislative Conference in

October 2nd – 4th, NALHFA held its 2018 Legislative Conference in Washington, DC. The conference, hosted by the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency, offered af-
fordable housing finance professions an opportunity to come together to hear about the latest federal legislative and regulatory changes to affordable housing resources from the nation’s foremost political authorities, federal agency leadership, key congressional of- fices, and national housing experts.
The conference’s educational sessions provided attendees with up-to-the-minute infor- mation on the federal financing bank and risk-sharing program, the congressional budget and appropriations process, progress on the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Improvement Act, the future of the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, and more. The conference also featured a number of notable guests and speakers including a political election analysis from Charlie Cook, editor and publisher of the Cook Political Report and columnist for the National Journal.

Conference attendees additionally had the opportunity to participate in NALHFA’s Hill Day. The Hill Day included meetings with key congressional offices where attendees dis- cussed NALHFA’s legislative priorities. Members of Congress and their staffers overall re- sponded favorably to the expansion of key affordable housing tools like the low-income housing tax credit and valuable HUD resources.
