Manor Park and Mote Park, where volunteers are needed to plant daf- fodils, crocuses and snowdrops. On October 30 and 31, at Cobtree


Manor Park,members of the public are invited to come along between 11am and 2pm to lend a hand. Cllr Paul Harper, chair of the Heritage, Culture and Leisure committee, said: “We have beautiful parks and open spaces and this is a great op- portunity for people to help make them even better. Community gar- dening is well known for bringing people together and also improving our environment.”

Castle’s invitation to 900th birthday party


LEEDSCastlehas launcheda series of events next year to mark the 900th anniversary of it being built. The year of celebration will in-


clude the opening of a newgarden, named after patron HRH Princess Alexandra, in June. July will see the 900 Carnival of


History, a two-day arts event cele- brating the castle’s place in history. A piece of music has been com-
