Design & Technology: Product Design 3D Design

ENTRY REQUIREMENT • GCSE Resistant Materials Grade B Related courses accepted at the discretion of the department

This course aims to build on students’ experience at GCSE, enabling them to become independent learners with a well-developed aesthetic sensibility and the ability to critically analyse a range of different products. As well as extending their knowledge of techniques and materials science, the course will also cover technological development over the past century and explore design history in greater depth. This is an excellent choice of subject for anyone considering creative or technology-based careers such as Architecture, Engineering, Craftwork, Graphic or Interior Design. This is a very useful subject in developing self-reliance, problem-solving and the ability to think on one’s feet; all very important in the modern work-place. Design and Technology will be separated into two separate, linear, qualifications; AS Level and

the Full A Level. (Please note that these can be co-taught and that students opting for the Full A Level will follow the same programme of study as those on the AS course.)
