Investing in the region

US engineering and construction firm Burns & McDonnell have marked one year in Birmingham by setting out its approach for achieving world class infrastructure in the West Midlands. The company welcomed mayor Andy Street to

their Birmingham offices to discuss the approach. The providers of full-service engineering,

construction, and consulting solutions established their first UK base in Birmingham, and have now set out their ideas for how to ensure the West Midlands’ infrastructure is the best in the world. Mr Street heard about Burns & McDonnell’s

plans to support regeneration in the region, their ideas for growth and creating more jobs, and their long-term investment plan for the UK. Mr Street said: “It was great to hear about the

plans and ambitions Burns & McDonnell have here in the West Midlands. These are exciting times here in the West Midlands and I am delighted the company is so keen to be part of it.” Jonathan Chapman, Burns & McDonnell’s UK managing director, said: “We are very proud to call Birmingham and the West Midlands our UK

journey, and that’s why we have developed a 10- year investment plan here. We think our approach will help make a powerful case for renewing the region’s infrastructure, help create growth and meet the needs of the people.”

at Florida expo SMEs from the West Midlands have the opportunity to find out more about exporting to the USA by joining a British Trade Mission to Florida in October. The Florida International Trade & Cultural

Expo (FITCE) 2018 is the largest multi- sector trade expo in Florida. It provides a great opportunity to meet

potential buyers and distributors from all over the USA and also from other countries. There is a tailored Matchmaking Service

in which businesses can work with the Global Trade Center in Florida. The Global Trade Center can help find

interested potential buyers and distributors before the trade expo starts and set up the meetings with them during and after the expo.
