TALKING BUSINESS

PHOTOS BY JANE RUSSELL PHOTOGRAPHY

FACTFILE: NEVILLE FUNERAL SERVICE

BACKGROUND: Michael Liddle is from Colchester. At 16 he started working at a family-run funeral service, which his grandfather helped to set up. “I’ve only worked for two companies; that one and Neville’s” he said. “I originally wanted to be a cabinet maker and in those days coffins were all made by hand so I made coffins instead. I passed my funeral directors and embalmers exams then the business in Colchester went through a few changes, so I moved to Luton in 1989 and found employment at Neville’s as general manager.”

COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Neville Funeral Service is a people business, with staff being critical to its success. The team consists of funeral directors, funeral arrangers, drivers and bearers, florists, memorial masons, administrators and support staff with each person having an important role to play in delivering the best service possible to their valued clients.

WHY DID YOU JOIN THE CHAMBER?: “We like to support an organisation that helps local businesses through good and bad times and that can represent us in the right manner to local government and people in authority.”
