In April 2018, the Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme went live, nationwide, supported by a £67m funding pot. It has been designed to enable SMEs to receive ‘gigabit-capable’ connectivity and to give the UK access to faster, more reliable internet connectivity. As a registered supplier, dbfb are
now providing eligible businesses free installation on full fibre, up to the value of £3,000. Businesses have access to a range of connectivity speed options with dbfb; with synchronous speeds starting from 100 Mbps up to 1 Gbps. The Government only this month
have proposed a major package of regulatory changes, public funding and new legislation to bring full fibre connectivity to the entire of the UK by 2033. Although, it is worth bearing in mind that the Gigabit
Broadband Voucher Scheme will end in 2021 – or maybe even sooner! The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) will stop issuing vouchers when the £67m pot has been emptied. Therefore, dbfb are encouraging all local businesses to take advantage now. When speaking of the Gigabit
Broadband Voucher Scheme, Matt Hancock, UK Minister for DCMS at the time, said: “Faster and more reliable connections are transforming the way we live and work; better broadband supports businesses to grow and become more productive.”
