School Games Level 2 Tag Rugby festival


Avon Valley and Stonehenge clusters took part in the Tag Rugby Festival at Avon Valley College.


The 7 Schools that took part were split into two pools where they played a round robin competition with games lasting 6 minutes one way.


These events cannot run without help from the Students at Avon Valley College who kindly gave up their day to referee the games, organise the scoring and officiate by running the touch line. They did a fantastic job and were very professional.


Everyone had a really good time at the Festival and there were some hard fought games showing some really good play and talent.


Pewsey Vale Cluster Tag Rugby festival


Pewsey Vale School hosed there sixth annual rugby festival with eight teams in attendance from across the Pewsey Vale and Wellington clusters. The weather stayed dry and warm throughout the morning leading to a fantastic time had by all. Organized by Mrs Lyndsey Shaw, PE Teacher, Pewsey Vale School


The Awards were as follows: Best try: Harvey Munro: Woodborough Best Moment: Olivia Smith: Burbage Player of the tournament: Oliver Ward: Rushall. 32 students from Pewsey Vale School helped in the event, they refereed all


the games and assisted the younger children with warm ups etc.


Pewsey Rugby club also supported the event by sending two members to assist. Many teachers commented on the great professionalism of the referees and stated that they were better than in other festivals they had been to.

Avon Valley Cluster Orienteering Festival


Due to rain the year 3/4 Orienteering festival was held in the Gym at Avon Valley College, to the relief of the children!


Netheravon and Larkhill pupils (66 in total) were put into pairs to complete the 4 stations. They had 15 minutes to complete each station which consisted of 6 maps.

The year 10 PE core students helped run the festival by handing out the cards, marking the answer sheets and giving lots of encouragement and advice. They were great and really stepped up to the role and helped make the day run smoothly.

Avon Valley Cluster Level 2 Tri Golf festival


The Tri Golf festival took place at High Post Golf Club. 6 Schools took part from the Avon Valley Cluster with each team consisting of 10 pupils.


There were 8 stations to complete and for each station they were awarded points depending on the task, some involved putting others were chipping, they had 5 minutes to collect as many points as possible. Year 10 Students from Avon Valley College helped set up the stations and officiated and did a fantastic job. A big thank you to Chris Pedder from High Post who helped run the festival.


Avon Valley Cluster Level 2 Hockey festival


The festival took place at Wellington Academy. Young leaders came from Wellington and they officiated making sure everyone played by the rules and kept score. Organiser Collette Harries said "The standard was high with some close fought games, showing sportsmanship shaking hands with the opposition which was lovely to see"

Avon Valley Cluster Level 2 Touch Rugby festival


The day started with the year 7 and 8 girls from Avon Valley College and St Edmunds warming up by taking part in SAQ stations. The girls were then split into two groups, one group practiced attacking skills, focusing on different passes and the second group focused on how to defend. They then went back into their School teams to practice their tactical play ready for the festival.
