Salisbury Cross Country Success


St Edmund’s had another fantastic Cross Country season with the Minors (year 7) placed 3rd, juniors (years 8 & 9) 1st and Inters (years 10 & 11) 3rd.


Salisbury Year 1 & 2 FUNdamentals Festival


The St Edmund’s year 10 Sports Leaders helped organised the year 1 & 2 FUNdamentals Festival which saw 180 primary school pupils on the St Edmund’s courts. The Sports Leaders designed, practiced and led stations which help to develop generic movement patterns required for lots of sports. Although it was

very cold the Leaders were able to keep their groups’ attention and motivate the pupils to do their best.


The primary pupils had a fantastic day and the Leaders experienced what it would be like to be a PE teacher for the day.


Ferris (9N Reserve). Inters: Heidi Porter (10P) was chosen to go forward. From the Wiltshire Cross Country Trials event Becky Service and Lily Battersby came in the top 13 of their junior’s race and qualified to run for Wiltshire at the South West Championships.


Salisbury Year 3 & 4 Gymnastic Festival


St Edmund’s welcomed 120 year 3 & 4 pupils from the Salisbury Primary Schools to the Gymnastic Festival held at St. Edmund’s School in February. 20 Sports Leaders from St. Edmund’s School coached the young primary school pupils through different gymnastic skills and then they had to perform these new skills. Everyone learnt a lot from this festival not only the Primary School pupils who learnt new Gymnastic moves but the Sports Leaders through their coaching and officiating the event.


Year 3 & 4 Orienteering Festival


26 year 11 Leaders from St Edmund’s School helped to organise and run a year 3 & 4 Orienteering Festival for the local primary schools. They were in charge of the overall running, officiating and scoring of their activity and pupils from the Cross Country squad helped the pairs in their tasks. They were a credit to the school and showed excellent leadership skills and they all learnt a lot from the experience.


Firstly pupils were split into 3 groups with a different activities to run. Pairs from the primary schools were scored on each task and the overall winning pair received a certificate. Secondly the schools battled it out in an Orienteering relay challenge with St Andrews completing the task first.


All the primary pupils were very enthusiastic and enjoyed their afternoon.


St Edmund’s Year 7 Girls Football Success


Salisbury Level 2 Trampoline Festival


The annual L2 Trampoline Competition was held at St. Edmunds Girls School. The quality of performance was particularly high this year. After a hard fought competition St. Johns Marlborough just beat St. Edmunds into second place by only 2 Marks.


Mixed Football Year 3 & 4


Primary Schools from all over the Salisbury cluster arrived at St. Edmund’s Girls School keen to show off their Football skills. They enjoyed the Coaching delivered by coaches from The FA team and then battled it out to see who would finish top of the league.
