SeptemberHoroscopesby Vikki Anderson Important Dates: September 3, Labor Day; 9th, Grandparents’ Day; 10th, Rosh Hashanah begins; the 21st, the

International Day of Peace and the 24th, Sukkoth begins. Save Our Planet and Put Money in Your Pocket

I have been trying for some time to help the planet in my own small way and I will share some of the things you can do to help

our planet too. All are common sense suggestions, but many do not think of them. Don’t run the tap water while you are brushing your teeth and doing the dishes. Turn off the TV or lights when you go into another room for any length of time. As my father used to say to my mother, “What is

this, a light house?” Save energy when possible. Set air conditioning at 73-74 degrees if it’s programmable; otherwise you can always just turn it to medium. Keep heat at 68 degrees or lower in the winter. A sweater goes a long way to keeping one warm. Clean out your freezer and refrigerator and prepare the food you forgot you had before you have to toss it away. Use cloth napkins on your table and let your family use their napkin all day before tossing them into the wash. Don’t do the laun-

dry unless you have a full load of clothes. If you are having a BBQ or party in your home, think of using your regular dishes and silverware which can be washed and reused.

Buy biodegradable plates and utensils instead of disposable ones for any BBQ or event if you must use them. When having a picnic, BBQ or get-together, ask your guests to bring a bottle of wine, side dish or dessert to offset the

cost of the party. Buy used furniture at auctions, the Salvation Army, a garage sale or off of the web. Much furniture is in very good condition and

is a fraction of the cost and many of the items are just as good as new (Or you can fix them up to look newer!) Buy two-year old cars. New cars lose 20% of their value just driving off of the lot. You can get a good car for less money and a

new car did not have to be produced just for you. Use reusable containers. Have your home checked for window, door or attic leaks. If your home is not air tight, you are throwing your heating and air con-

ditioning dollars away. Get low flow shower heads and/or chlorine filters for your shower head. Apparently, we are absorbing 100 times of chlorine into

our skin in an average 10-minute shower just as if we were drinking 100 glasses of tap water. That’s pretty unsettling. I hope you can use some of these helpful hints to save our planet and keep some money in your pocket at the same time! Copyright © by www.vikkianderson.net and Vikki Anderson. own self cultivation and interests. Handle one or two major responsibilities each day but leave time for you to learn, be nurtured and accumulate knowledge. What a great time to have some fun and let go of your overpowering responsibili- ties and obligations. Romantic relation- ships are fun and you should try to get away to interesting and secluded destina- tions for a mini vacation. Try to lighten up and chill a little. Your hectic life style is not healthy. Be resourceful with your money as you seem to want to spend it like it’s going out of style.

Life is interesting, especially with your romantic partner. Many new wonderful opportuni- ties are being presented to you regarding business and personal partnerships; how- ever, there is much going on to confuse the situation as well. You need to decide what you need from a relationship and then choose whether or not your current partner helps you meet those goals. Some challenges appear in school or your career. Be positive about changes in your life and go with the flow since change is inevitable and it might as well be in your best interest.

You wish you hadmore time to do themundane tasks in life like clean the house, pay the bills, do the grocery shopping, etc. and yet you are glad that your creative juices are flowing and that you are handling your artistic and spiritual sides. Hard work, study, so- cial events and volunteer work help you network and get your name out there a lot quicker than staying home and doing ac- complishing little around the house or with home projects.
