HEALING HANDS NEEDED
Valley Hospice in Paramus,
New Jersey, is seeking volunteers to be part of its End of Life (EOL) Doula program, and to provide patients with socialization and sup- port. Patients are seen throughout Bergen and Passaic counties. Specially trained volunteers pro-
vide emotional, physical, and spiritu- al support to people who are dying, and to offer respite to their loved ones. As part of the comfort care we provide, EOL Doula volunteers work with Social Service staff to design a vigil plan and complete legacy pro- jects about the patient’s life. As the patient’s end of life
approaches, EOL Doula volunteers work in shifts to help families deal with the around-the-clock demands for care. This service fosters a well- rounded level of care of continued support so patients do not feel alone at the end of life, and families are provided with added support during this difficult time. Those interested in Reiki, mas-
sage therapy, and various healthcare or spiritual fields are invited to contact us. If you feel this could be for you,
training is required. It’s offered in the Spring and Fall of each year.
