MANAGING YOUR PTA – Facebook groups

Our caterer for our Christmas fair has just cancelled Do you know anyone who could fi ll in last minute?

We’ve raised £5,000 for play equipment! Can anyone recommend any local companies to install it?

We’re looking into running a bar at our Christmas fair – do we need a licence?

Yep – it’s called a TEN. You can get one from your local council.

Here’s the number for ours, he might be free…

Have you thought about doing it yourself? Here’s how we did it…

Make sure you allow 10 working days

We bought one from the council for our summer fair – it cost £21

I’ve just PMd you contact details for the company we used x

We found ours on the Kent PTAs regional suppliers list

Have you joined your local PTA Facebook group?

Run by PTAs for PTAs, our groups are the perfect place to go for advice and support for all your committee needs

L

ocal knowledge and support is important for every PTA and Friends Association, which is why the team behind PTA+ has

set up local PTA Facebook groups. As part of our commitment to providing free help and support to all PTAs, the aim of this venture is to bring neighbouring committees together to support and strengthen individual PTAs. Our individual groups (72

and counting) are spread across the UK, and are currently bringing together more than 6,000 committee members, giving all PTAs and Friends Associations a way to share inspiration and experiences.

As these are closed groups, you can post instantly without waiting for anyone to repost queries for you, and each group is a safe space of trusted members ready to answer your questions. With some groups already having hundreds of members, there’s already a fantastic community of support available. Whether it’s collating ideas,

lending resources and equipment, sharing best practice advice, forging links with other local

PTAs, ensuring events don’t

clash or generally supporting one another, these pages are a way to strengthen your

committee and community.

And with our new regional suppliers lists, it’s also the ideal place to fi nd trusted companies local to you, including those that have been recommended by the PTA+ community – no more trawling the internet not knowing where to commit your precious PTA funds ! The groups are run by PTAs for

PTAs, and each county group feeds into the national network, backed by PTA+, so you can be safe in the knowledge that advice on important things, such as licensing or health and safety, is up-to-date and correct. We are amazed at how quickly the community has already grown and are excited to watch it develop

further with the input of more members. Start sharing

your knowledge by connecting with your local community at facebook. com/PTAgroupsUK/groups.
