MEMBERZONE APPRENTICES ADD VALUE

A manufacturer is benefitting from hiring apprentices. igus UK, based in Northampton, manufactures plastic bearings, linear systems, e-chain cable systems and chainfled flexible cable. Currently, five per cent of its workforce are

apprentices, and it is working with providers to increase its number of apprentices and vary the schemes that it offers. igus UK managing director Matthew Aldridge said:

“We offer apprenticeships in engineering, finance, business administration and customer service and are continuing to identify areas of our business that would benefit from an apprenticeship. “Our apprentices enjoy working here because we are

like a close knit family. Many employees have been here for a long time so they support our apprentices with a vast amount of knowledge and expertise. “We encourage our apprentices to be responsible for

their own development, which fits with the self- management ethos here. Apprentices have a sponsor

igus apprentices Brian Ebulubu, Ariane Batchelor and Oliver Palmer

who supports them with their well-being and acts as the link between the workplace and providers. “We’re very excited about what the future holds with

our apprentices and how their contribution will add value to the long term goals and vision of igus.”

BLUE GRAPE

GOES OVERSEAS A new leadership, development and talent management firm has begun delivering leadership programmes overseas. Blue Grape Talent was launched

by director Rhiannon Stafford earlier this year. She said: “We’re on a mission to

help businesses grow through developing their people and their culture. We’ve recently started working in collaboration with another development company to deliver leadership programmes in the UK, America and hopefully Singapore. We’ve also joined up with another firm in Leicester to provide development and talent management support to SMEs who want to grow.”
