ACRE CHARITY JOINS OPEN DAY

Northamptonshire ACRE will open up its historic buildings to the public during a heritage day in September. The independent charity

works across the county with rural communities to improve their quality of life and is based at the Grade II Listed former working farm called The Barns at Hunsbury Hill. The venue was revolutionary

when it was designed in 1776 by Edward Bouverie, the owner of Delapre Abbey, as each building was located for maximum efficiency and convenience. Chief executive Elaine

O’Leary said: “Our complex is open for private functions and community events but is not normally open to the general public. During the Heritage Day we’ll be opening our whole site to the public. There will be a display of the venue’s history and we’ll take visitors on tours of the farmhouse.” The complex will be open

from midday to 3pm on 9 September.

Rilmac Scaffolding has landed a major project at the University of Warwick. The redevelopment of Cryfields

Student Village at the university will see 828 new bedrooms provided across 12 buildings, including townhouses and cluster blocks. The new development also includes a ‘village hall’ which will contain meeting areas, offices, a laundrette and post room. Rilmac Scaffolding will be on site for up to two years, providing

continual access scaffolding for Kier who are the developers for this key project. This prestigious new contract

increases Rilmac’s involvement in higher education development projects to more than half a dozen currently working on site or recently completed. With the marketplace for student accommodation growing 17% annually there are more opportunities on the horizon as well.

Rilmac Scaffolding director Sam McSpadden said: “Kier’s confidence in us to deliver on site underlines the hard work everyone at Rilmac has put in over the past few years to develop our capabilities in this area.” “This is another major

development we have become involved in across the country,” added Rilmac Scaffolding managing director Des Booth. “Congratulations to everyone in the team who made this possible.”
